OpenAI announced that its new flagship AI model GPT-4o will provide data analysis enhancements for ChatGPT Plus, Team and Enterprise users in the next few weeks, and released 4 demonstration videos.
Whether it is merging large data sets, data analysis, creating charts, or mining data information, ChatGPT can be executed in one sentence.
By simply uploading one or more data files, users can instruct ChatGPT to analyze or modify tables, answer key data information, and perform common data processing tasks such as grouping by month and changing data accuracy.
For example, in the demo above, you can select the action column and ask ChatGPT to "group by month," have it "round" the data, or ask it to turn the participation status of each platform into a visual histogram for each month. You can also ask for further details of the data, such as “What is the best-performing tweet this month?”

These data analysis efforts build on ChatGPT's ability to understand data sets and complete tasks in natural language, making it easier for beginners to conduct in-depth analysis and saving experts time on daily data processing tasks.
1. Add files directly from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive
ChatGPT obtains Google and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint files more efficiently. Users can add various file types directly from Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive instead of downloading the files to the desktop and then uploading them to ChatGPT.
2. Real-time processing of forms
When you add a dataset, ChatGPT will create an interactive table. You can expand it to full-screen view to track its updates during analysis.
Click on a specific area to ask a follow-up question, or select one of ChatGPT's suggested prompts to dig deeper into your analysis.
For example, you can ask ChatGPT to merge tables of monthly expenses, select the column for expense type, and ask "Which type of expense is the most?" and ChatGPT will create a pivot table classified by expense type. Of course you can also ask it to re-sort the table by country.
3. Customize charts that can be used in PPT
ChatGPT supports customizing and interacting with bar charts, line charts, pie charts, and scatter charts in conversations. Hover over chart elements to ask additional questions, or select the color you want.
After adjusting the charts to your satisfaction, the charts can be downloaded and used in presentations or documents.
For example, users can select a Google Sheet containing the enterprise's latest user data directly from Google Drive, ask ChatGPT to create a chart plotting retention rates by group, and write some brief summaries.
These new interactive features span a variety of chart types. ChatGPT will generate static versions for unsupported charts.
In terms of security and data privacy, OpenAI promises not to use data from the ChatGPT team and enterprise customers for training, and ChatGPT Plus users can opt out of training through their data controls.
